People - MidCap Financial Services, LLC*
William Gould is a co-founder of MidCap Financial and President of Asset Based and Life Sciences Lending. Prior to joining MidCap, Mr. Gould created and ran the life sciences venture finance practice for Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance. Mr. Gould also served as a Team Leader responsible for underwriting asset based and specialty real estate loans at Merrill Lynch Capital. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Gould was a Vice President at GE Capital’s Healthcare Commercial Finance business unit where he led the asset based underwriting group. Mr. Gould also spent four years in the corporate and securities group of the law firm of Hogan and Hartson. Mr. Gould holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Haverford College and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Garrett Fletcher currently heads MidCap’s Asset Based Lending group. Mr. Fletcher has over 10 years of experience originating, structuring and executing debt financings for healthcare companies. Prior to joining MidCap, Mr. Fletcher was head of asset based underwriting for Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance. Mr. Fletcher has also worked in various underwriting capacities for GE Capital Healthcare Commercial Finance and its predecessor entities, Heller Healthcare Finance, and Healthcare Financial Partners. Mr. Fletcher holds a B.A. in Biology with Distinction from the University of Virginia.
John Rosin is a Managing Director and National Head of Originations of MidCap Financial’s General Industries Asset Based Lending group. Mr. Rosin has over 25 years of asset based lending experience and a track record whereby he and his origination teams have been responsible for over 300 funded transactions. Prior to joining MidCap, Mr. Rosin held positions as the National Head of Originations for AloStar Business Credit as well as leadership positions at GE Capital and Wells Fargo Foothill. A graduate of Indiana University, Mr. Rosin is also active in several regional and national industry organizations, including the Association for Corporate Growth, the Commercial Finance Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. He is a frequent speaker at industry events on distressed investing, secured lien lending, and asset based lending.
Bianca Barredo is Director of the General Industries Asset Based Lending Group focusing on originating and structuring financing solutions with investment banks, restructuring advisors, and debt investors for public and private companies. Bianca has provided financing for middle market companies for over 10 years. Prior to joining MidCap, she was Senior Vice President at GE Capital, Corporate Finance Group, where she was responsible for sourcing and executing cash flow, ABL, and unitranche transactions. Additionally, she spent eight years at Comerica Bank, most recently as Vice President, Team Leader where she was responsible for the entire deal process with emphasis on financing lower middle market investments for private equity sponsors. Bianca holds an M.B.A. from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.S. from USC Marshall School of Business.
James Garlick is Director of the General Industries Asset Based Lending Group focusing on originating and structuring financing solutions with investment banks, restructuring advisors, and debt investors for public and private companies. Mr. Garlick has significant experience in both asset based and cash flow lending. Prior to joining MidCap, James was Senior Vice President – Business Development Officer at WNB Specialty Finance, where he sourced and structured ABL transactions for middle market borrowers throughout the Southeast. Prior to that, James was in originations at GE Capital Corporate Finance, where he was responsible for sourcing asset based, leveraged cash flow, and unitranche transactions in the Southeast and Midwest. James began his lending career as a credit underwriter for Regions Financial and a credit associate for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey's asset based lending group. Mr. Garlick holds a B.A. from Albion College and is also active in the Association for Corporate Growth, Commercial Finance Associate and the Turnaround Management Association.
Brad Kastner is an originations officer for MidCap’s Asset Based Lending Group. Prior to MidCap, Brad was a Vice President – Business Development Officer at Amalgamated Capital, where he was responsible for sourcing and structuring cash flow and asset based transactions to support investments made by private equity sponsors, as well as transactions with investment banks, intermediaries, syndicating banks, and public and private companies. Additionally, Brad spent two years as an Underwriter and Portfolio Manager with Amalgamated Capital. Prior to joining Amalgamated Capital, he spent five years at CIT Group, where he held positions in Relationship Management, Underwriting and Business Development of asset based and cash flow loans. He also participated in CIT’s full-time Credit Training Program. He currently serves as President of the New York Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association and was the 2010 Co-Chair of CIT’s Community Involvement Board. Brad earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
Bruce Jennings currently directs MidCap’s due diligence services, working primarily with the Asset Based Lending and Real Estate Lending groups. Mr. Jennings has over 10 years of experience in healthcare finance, most recently managing due diligence efforts at Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance. Mr. Jennings has also worked in various accounting and finance, due diligence and portfolio management roles with GE Capital Healthcare Commercial Finance, Heller Healthcare Finance and Healthcare Financial Partners. Mr. Jennings has an additional eight years experience in the healthcare industry, serving as CFO and Controller with several nursing home, hospice and home health organizations. Mr. Jennings holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Cornell University.
David Ding is an underwriter in MidCap’s Asset Based Lending Group where he is responsible for structuring, negotiating and executing senior financing for middle market healthcare companies. Prior to joining MidCap, Mr. Ding was an Investment Banking Associate in the Financial Institutions Group at Goldman Sachs where he focused on mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Ding started his career at SNL Financial. Mr. Ding holds an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business and a B.S. from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Phyliss Hasen is an underwriter in MidCap’s Asset Based Lending Group where she is responsible for structuring, negotiating and executing senior financing for middle market companies. Ms. Hasen has over 25 years of diversified financial lending experience including asset-based lending, leveraged finance, account management and equipment finance. Prior to joining MidCap, Ms. Hasen held credit and underwriting positions at Wells Fargo Foothill, GE Capital and AloStar Business Credit. Ms. Hasen holds an M.B.A. from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University and a B.S. from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.

Joe Mattina joined in August 2013 as a Managing Director at Apollo Capital Management and is part of the Apollo and MidCap Leveraged Finance & Financial Sponsors Group where he is responsible for originating and structuring senior and junior financing for companies in Canada and the US. Based in Toronto, Mr. Mattina has over 17 years of experience in finance. Previously, Mr. Mattina was a Managing Director at Macquarie Bank and Fortress Investment Group, in addition to earlier roles at GE and KPMG Corporate Finance. He began his career as an Accountant at KPMG. Mr. Mattina graduated from McMaster University with a Honors Bachelors of Commerce, Minor in Economics, Finance & Accounting.
